LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team
The Sheriff’s Tactical Response Unit is made up of sixteen Sheriff’s Deputies and a lieutenant who acts as the unit commander. The tactical response unit responds to emergency situations throughout the county and is available to respond to emergency situations at the request of area police departments. The unit is trained in dynamic and covert entries and hostage situations. The unit also assists TRI-DENT, the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Unit during narcotic investigations and arrest.
Posse
The mission of the LaSalle County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse is to provide trained personnel in emergency situations to assist local law enforcement and emergency medical services.
The LaSalle County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse is comprised of volunteer personnel. Our members are trained and certified in search and rescue techniques on horseback. We are also trained in evidence preservation, crowd control, and support for natural disasters. Both rider and horse complete rigorous training to achieve these goals.

George Elmore Walker
LaSalle County Sheriff from 1831 – 1834
George E. Walker, son of Dr. David Walker, came here from the East in 1827. His wife was Margaret Thomas of St. Clair county. She died in 1848. Mr. Walker became a very prominent character in the affairs of Ottawa. When he first came he traded with the Indians; he was a captain of scouts in the Blackhawk war, and was the first sheriff of La Salle county.
