What is the LaSalle County Community Mental Health Board?


The LaSalle County 708 Community Mental Health Board, in accordance with the Community Mental Health Act/Illinois 708 legislation exists to monitor, assess, fund, and promote mental health, substance use, intellectual/developmental disability, and other related mental health services within the limitations of the available mental health tax levy amount, funding guidelines, and staff resources.

The LaSalle County Mental Health 708 Board allocates local tax revenues to providers of mental health, substance use, intellectual and developmental disabilities, child welfare, and related services for residents of LaSalle County.

LaSalle County Mental Health Board Goals


Goal #1: Update the service & budget process to continue to reflect 708 Board priorities and the allocation of available funding.

Goal #2: Assess LaSalle County mental health and substance use disorder needs and advocate for funding increases with decision-makers based upon local hospital needs assessments, the LaSalle County Health Department ICAN Needs Assessment, and regional, state, and national needs assessment data.

Goal #3: To raise awareness and understanding of good mental health, when to seek services, and what services are available.

Goal #4: Advocate and build awareness for needed mental health, substance use, and related services with key decision-makers and stakeholders.

Goal #5: Continue to participate in ACMHAI to gain knowledge and benchmark other activities/programs administered by 708 Boards throughout the State of Illinois.

Goal #6: Ongoing monitoring of federal, state, and other mental health system trends, legislation, funding changes, best practices, and ongoing work with the Illinois Department of Human Services Division in accordance with 708 statutory requirements.

The LaSalle County Mental Health Website


The LaSalle County 708 Community Mental Health Board launched the LaSalle County Mental Health Website in May 2023 to assist residents, care providers, loved ones, or anyone in need of services related to mental health, addictions, and domestic violence, and other important issues.

The LaSalle County Mental Health website serves as a resource for 988 crisis instructions, general mental health and well-being information, and an agency and behavioral health service directory for residents of LaSalle County.
