Traffic

The Traffic Division of the LaSalle County State's Attorney's Office is responsible for the prosecution of defendants charged under the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code, including petty offenses (speeding, no seatbelt) through Class A misdemeanor traffic offenses (DUIs, driving while suspended, fleeing and eluding). Additionally, the Traffic Division prosecutes conservation citations charged under the Fish and Wildlife Code. These violations range from violating state park rules to hunting and fishing violations.

Eligible defendants seeking to receive court supervision must appear in court on the first appearance date listed on the citation. Defendants under the age of 18 must appear with a parent or legal guardian.

When a defendant is charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle but possessed valid insurance at the time the citation was issued, he or she must appear in court on the first appearance date listed on the citation with satisfactory proof of insurance. Be advised that cell phones are not allowed in the courtroom, so proof of insurance must be in hard copy form.
